Welcome

We returned to Australia for Chapter II of our living in Melbourne in 2013/2014.  This blog Melbourne 2014 describes our travels, observations and photos.

 

 

August 2013 we left Australia and headed to Europe for three months.  Most of our travel was by train which was efficient and fun.  This blog Europe 2013 describes our travels, observations and photos.  Places we visited included Norway, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Berlin, Prague & Cesky Krumlov, Switzerland, France, and Malta.  If only interested in a specific location, just click on the underlined country name above.

 

 

 

 

 

February 2014 we visited our friends Kate and John Edge in Stephens Bay, New Zealand on the South Island after a bicycle tour in NZ wine country with our friends Jan and Al Mackie.  Photos from this visist are on this site Stephens Bay Photos.

Upon our full retired, in March 2012 Mary and I began our planned trip to spend a year in Australia.  It was something we always talked about doing in retirement.  This was the opportunity for both of us to spend quality time with family and friends, for Mary to discover Melbourne as a local, and for Joe to get reacquainted with Melbourne of his youth with many trips down memory lane.  To read and see our blog about our 15 months in Melbourne click here A Melbourne Sojourn

After a spending Thansgiving in Sicily we continued on to Malta.  In early December 2011 we spent time visiting family and enjoying the Christmas festive season in Malta.  This site Malta 2011 has photos of our Malta visit including Malta and Valletta, the Rizzo Family, the Vella Family, and the Scicluna Family.

Nancy Leahy turned 50 in 1998.  She had always wanted to go to Machu Picu for her 50th.  A group of friends (ten in all) organized a trip to hike the Inca Trial,  with sidetrips to Lake Titti Kaka, and the Amazon.   This was early days for doing a blog but this link A Peruvian Odyessy is the best we had back then.
